If you have been diagnosed with prostatitis / CPPS

If you have been diagnosed with prostatitis / CPPS you may well have been told to avoid certain foods or drinks. There are valid reasons why you are told to ⁠
avoid caffeine, alcohol, and spicy dishes; caffeine is a diuretic and alcohol can be an irritant, as can spicy food.⁠
⁠
However, restricting your diet, or indeed any activity from which you would otherwise gain pleasure, can have a detrimental effect on your quality of life. ⁠
⁠
Limiting the joys of life can have a more negative impact on CPPS than any coffee, glass of wine or curry ever would. The key is to enjoy these things in ⁠
moderation and, if you have cut them out of your diet entirely, to reintroduce them gradually. ⁠

Read on for five handy steps to getting back to doing the things you love...⁠
⁠
1. First and foremost, carefully does it! We can absolutely get back to the things we love, however, some people do experience irritation, so proceed⁠
with caution. Start small – a cup of milky coffee, for example.⁠
⁠
2. Take your time and allow your body to respond and accommodate the volume of whatever you are consuming before increasing the intake.⁠
⁠
3. Make sure you are in a good place mentally and that you are relaxed and in a safe environment. Don’t try anything if you are stressed or tired.⁠
⁠
4. Don’t experiment while at work or before you have to be somewhere or do something important: allow room for your body’s reaction, whatever it may be.⁠
⁠
5. Surround yourself with people who can advise you and on whom you can rely for feedback. Both experts and fellow sufferers are on hand in the Recovery Room⁠
